Starting Off Your Dinner With Mexican Appetizers

Mexican appetizers can determine whether or not a restaurant is worth eating at.  This is the meal before the meal, so to speak.  These will be the first impression, as far as food goes, that the customer will get from the restaurant, so it needs to be a good one.  There are a wide variety of choices when it come to putting together a list of good, yet quick food items for the customers to eat while they wait for the main course.  To most, all of the other Mexican appetizers come in second place to tortilla chips and the salsa.

Chips and salsa are so popular that they do not even put them on the menu at all, because it is just expected.  The mark of a great Mexican restaurant is the taste of their salsa.  Each place makes a unique trademark recipe of salsa.  Getting the perfect amount of spiciness is a challenge in itself.  Not everyone loves to have tears rolling down their cheek while they are eating chips, but at the same time, most everyone enjoys a little bit of spice.  This choice is in demand so much that some customers come just to get full on it.  To them, there is no need to order any other Mexican appetizers or main course.

Nachos are another favorite choice amongst the customers.  There are a few variations of how they may be served.  In this cultural themed restaurant, they do not give the people a simple order of tortilla chips covered with melted cheese.  They have to do it their way, which is throwing a little spice in there mixed with a few other items.  Most places have Chile con queso, which is a creamy cheese dip that can be used on many things.  It is basically a mixture of different cheeses and vegetables.  The nachos will have this poured on top, often times adding refried beans.  Adding chicken or beef fajitas will create a wonderful taste.  This dish will most likely be served with sour cream, jalapenos, and guacamole.

For many people, the Mexican appetizers are a meal itself.  One example of this is the fajita quesadillas that are served.  It can be prepared with either chicken or beef.  Either choice is excellent; it just depends on each individual customer.   Some restaurants will offer grilled shrimp for those who may want seafood instead.  The meat, and a few other things, such as a blend of cheeses, are all sandwiched between two soft tortillas.  This order is usually accompanied by a bed of lettuce and tomatoes with a dollop of guacamole and sour cream.  All together, this is a pretty large plate full of food.  It is hard to imagine for some that it is only an appetizer.

Another very wise choice, as far as Mexican appetizers go, is the sampler option that they often offer.  This is the best of all of the options.  Customers can have a variety of appetizer choices rather than just one item.  For example, one restaurant can offer their customers bean nachos, a small portion of a chicken quesadilla, and a stuffed jalapeño.
